We would like to thank everyone who has taken the time to participate in our Main Map Contest and appreciate all the hard work dedicated to improving our servers. It is now time to start voting to see which map will be set as the new IS Main map.

If you are a contestant, please reply to this thread with pictures of your build. Remember, if you have made multiple maps, you must choose only 1 of them.

Requirements
1.) Post the link to the imgur photos of your builds

3.) Give a brief description of your build


Here is a tutorial on how to post pictures for those that do not already know:

1. At the top of your keyboard there should be a "Print Screen" button. Hit that
    button (Command+Shift+3, for you mac users). Open MS Paint, and paste it
    (Ctrl+V). Save the file.
2. Repeat with all builds. If you are using WoM, simply click the "Screenshot" button 
    at the top left of your screen.
3. Go to http://imgur.com/, go to the "Upload" window, and click "Computer".
4. Choose the file. (WoM Users- It should be in your WoM folder)
5. Then you can choose another file, until you have them all.
6. Hit "Start Upload" when you are done.
7. It should give you all your pictures in a sort of album. There is no need to "save"
    it. Simply copy the URL, and paste into your application.

The voting will be open to everyone, including contestants, and will be conducted in 2 stages:

Stage 1: Voters pick their favorite 3 builds out of the list. The top 5 that are chosen get to move on to Stage 2.


Stage 2: Voters pick their favorite 1 build. Winner of Stage 2 is the winner of the contest. This stage will last 5 days, and during this time, the 5 maps will have a chance to be set up as a main map for 1 day each to get a feel of how they are laid out.





Unfortunately, minecraft1279 and Frogundergrove were unable to finish their maps in the allotted time, and have been removed from the poll.



Don't be discouraged if your map doesn't outright win. We do reserve the right to rotate maps every once in a while, and may possibly choose yours!

Hello peoples, here's my entry for the contest, the "Mountainside Main."

As seen in picture two, a person would begin in the middle of the structure and be able to access all portals easily.

Picture three shows the view that a person would begin with right after joining the server. The guest map is directly ahead and visible to a new person. Those with WOM can just glide into the portal without going up, down, left, or right.

Pictures 4-7 show the portals that are available. In the "others" section, TNT, Zombies, and Spleef all have a separate portal and is abbreviated with one letter. The website for the forum is above the epic portal (as seen in picture 7).

Pictures 8-10 show some other views and additions to the map including the crystal lake, cascading waterfall, and small lodge.

Hiking is available and paths are included for those interested. A trail begins at the lodge, goes up the hills, and into the mountain for a cave hike.

The build uses some *some* aspects of Greek architecture. I got the idea for this build after reading a book on architecture. I've been working on this casually for a while now, but never found a use for it. The color scheme revolves are Red, Gold, white, and grey. The gold portal on the balcony leads to a lower area of the map which contains a few more portals leading to some game maps, and bestoftheguest. Thank you for reading!

3. PORTAL NOTES: The main portal is a horizontal one above the fountain. The portal will be air portals so people will jump try to jump into the fountain instead. The "games" portals are underground, however there is a portal(GAMES) leading to it and back to the spawn.
    BUILD NOTES  : The build is some how influenced by One_Schiller's build... 4 random white tower structure   
thingies which generated from my mind from playing Final Fantasy 8(I think...). Other than that, I had this idea to put wings behind the IS which turned out sweet! I like the clean lobby look.

EDIT (12/15/2011 19:32 EST): Here we are.

I took on more of a "concept model" approach/colour scheme with my map.  Still a couple things I'd have loved to tweak /add if I had more time on my hands, but this will definitely do for now I think.

My map features a radial centerpiece (complete with 4x wide spiral staircase) with bridges to the portal maps for the four lowest ranked user groups.  Adv and elite omitted because I assumed they'd know their /g commands by now

This map was designed for the majority of the minecraft userbase - those who don't use WOM.  Users with WOM will miss a lot of the message blocks (as they are placed on the ground) and may be a little disoriented walking/running/flying around on the map.  Hence, in addition to showcase and games portals, I've included tiny little "lost" portals that teleport people back to the spawn point.

Also featured throughout the map are 4 column-like structures, 8 ponds and a very symmetrical design (I probably could have done the whole thing with /copy mirror).



Hope you lot enjoy the map - I would definitely recommend looking at it in-game.  I'm hopeless with good screenshots - I don't feel like I caught the full feel of the map with these.  There's also plenty of little tidbitty things around the map that I haven't taken any screenshots (even partial) of, so yeah.
