New rank above AdvBuilder?

I was just wondering if we should introduce a new rank between AdvBuilder and EliteBuilder, and call it something like Veteran Builder.

In my own mind there is quite a gap between AdvBuilder and Elite which makes it hard to move up a rank from AdvBuilder. I'd like to keep Elite as a high requirement rank, as some way to recognize the really skilled and dedicated builders out there.

As well as the gap, there are some players who are AdvBuilder and have been around for a long time. It would be good if they had another rank they could move to without getting bogged down by the high building requirements of Elite or the high demands/responsibility of Operator rank.

Would a Verteran Builder rank (or VetBuilder) be good to have between Adv and Elite?

If someone is applying for Op they can still do so from AdvBuilder without having to this new rank.

i personally think we should add a ton of ranks. i know this has been discussed before and denied but I still think we should. if you want names i could come up with a bunch

Nah, a ton of ranks gets way too confusing and causes happiness inflation, as in: right now, every rank is significant (because there are not that many) so people get exited when they rank up, but if there are 20 ranks, they won't be as happy in ranking up, since they still have to go through a ton more ranks.

Names is not the big issue when it comes to adding new ranks. People get fixated with the notion of lots of ranks and having cool sounding names, with very little in the difference between the ranks other than the name.

Coming up with an unambiguous way to decide when to rank someone up so that ALL OPERATORS know and understand the difference, is difficult. Even with the ranks we currently have, some ops will rank people up to EpicBuilder for a single build that would barely qualify for ProBuilder. We try our best to rank everyone equally and fairly but there will always be some inconsistencies. By adding lots more ranks this inconsistency would get a lot worse because the lines between ranks would get even more blurred.

For a server that has a massive 27 active admins (Ops, TA, Supers) it would be tough to get everyone on the same page in knowing what's worth a promotion and what isn't. That's why having clear differences between them is important. On a smaller server, with far fewer active admins its easier cos its the same admins doing all the ranking.

I'd still prefer to tweak what we have rather than radically overhaul everything.

Yea, there needs to be a middle rank.  It's sort a like when you reach Elite thats it, unless you want to be an op.  Then maybe Elite can get even cooler commands or something.  People enjoy moving up in ranks, and there are plenty of builds that may surpass adv., but not quite elite!

maybe something like a senior builder, who require like 3-5 months to get it. i know theres guys out there who have been unfortunatly stuck on adv

I always thought of that! I just didn't want to say anything becuase me being adv and then demoted from op- me requesting it would seem desperate/n00bish. Wouldn't you say?

I haven't played classic in a long time, but it seems to me like we get some premature operators. That middle rank will help weed those people out. Maybe the previous rank adjustment fixed that...

adding like 1 or 2 more ranks after adv is not a bad idea because there really isnt much that keeps are elite builders to stay when they are getting bored of building and they can't keep themselfs focused if there is nothing they are building for. If we add a rank or 2 week might see are great builders stay longer and not dissaper after being on the server for just 4 months or more.

My suggestion is for a rank above AdvBuilder but below EliteBuilder, mainly because there is a large gap in whats required between Adv and Elite and a new rank could plug that gap. Benefits of this rank would be a couple more commands than Adv and maybe 2 personal maps.

Are you suggesting a new rank (or ranks) above Elite? What benefits could we give for that rank? Or what would be required to attain that rank, baring in mind that Elite is currently very hard to get as it stands?

Well I havent had much time to think what would be given to the rank but it would be a rank that is earned by the best builders that we have seen on the server. Only the most out standing builders could get this rank and I know there is a few builders that are on are server that can achieve this rank and maybe more if some take there time I can see even more. I just think its something that will keep are elite builders to stay to achieve even greater than elite builder.
