McG

Howdy, I'm McG.  Musician/producer, competitive sailor, avid Minecrafter.

Check out my SC page!  If you like what you hear I might be releasing downloads soon.

There should be rules where if you don't follow the formatting, you lose all rights to be considered for the rank. Hm...

why is everyone going off on this kid!? he messed up, there's no need for all of this!
I decided as long as I was going to hell, I might as well do it thoroughly.

I don't see its in are server nature to give a person one chance and its for adv its not like he got banned for massive grief but I do agree that there is a number of times or mess ups someone can have on adv but 1 is not enough.

I second that schiller ^

Because on the adv application page, there is a post that says *READ ME*and anyone who does not try to read it, or for that matter, read any other application obviously does not want the rank enough because he isn't trying to optimize his chances. Usually, if someone doesn't want a rank too much, I don't see a particular reason in giving it to them.

I made the same mistake when I was at his rank no one helped me he probably didnt get help either everyone makes mistakes its what makes us human going off on 1 guy for a simple mistake is just wrong. I have to deal with this crap everyday at school I really don't want this going on a server that im always on.

Exactly. schiller should share some of the blame. Himself and McG were online when storm_kid15 was asking for information. At least McG tried to help him whereas schiller completely ignored him. Well, not completely ignore, in opchat he managed to comment "troll". How helpful was that?

So its funny to see him sticking up for the kid now. Maybe he realises that he did nothing to help and wants to share the blame, like what he meant to say was:
"why is everyone going off on this kid!? he messed up, there's no need for all of this! In fact, I am partly to blame because he asked several times how to apply for Adv and what the steps were, but I couldnt be bothered to explain it to him."

If you think someone doesn't have enough info, just speak up and help out. All you need to do is point out that there is a thread for How to Apply For Adv Builder in the Minecraft Classic section and that it is important to read and follow it. Badda-bing.

I've created a text file called "rankguide" that is viewable in game and goes into a little more detail. Just tell people to "/view rankguide"

That changes it a bit, if he was asking for information before applying but was not given any, then I can see how he can make this mistake. But still, you would expect people to notice a text that says "*READ THIS*How to apply" :/

No, McG gave him info and told him to follow the guidelines on the forum. But he was still asking questions about basic forum registration and navigation. At which point it would have been nice if the highest ranked person online (schiller) stepped in to offer some help, but that didnt happen.

I agree that players should have some basic level of independence and internet coherence to try and find things for themselves, providing we meet them half-way and at least inform them that there is a process for higher ranks and its more than just making a post saying "can i has rank now".

And yeah, it can be tedious explaining all this to everyone who asks, so hopefully just telling them to "/view rankguide" will make life easier on ops and clearer for rank applicants.

Is there a way to make a  view command that specifically explains all the steps required to get to the forums, and register for the rank?
Out of my mind. Back in five minutes.

bren4q

I had planned on making a custom command like "/rankguide" that would do the same thing as "/view rankguide"

The /view command works on any text file. We just need to provide the text files. If you have better ideas than "/rankguide" let me know.
We also need some clear and concise wording for what gets displayed. I just threw together the rankguide.txt file but it might need some refinement.
